I’m a crofter (small farmer) from the far north of Scotland. I have one son, William, who’s currently in nursery school.
I was introduced to SORD by Paul around the time I had William. Having a young son has brought home to me the inequalities children all over face. The ethos and work of SORD really touched me and motivated me to get involved, first by sponsoring a child, now by offering advice where I can.
I am excited to see where SORD develops in the coming years.

In March, while we were in Australia visiting our son, I decided to be a little bit crazy and do a tandem skydive.
I decided it would be good to try to raise some money towards building a new classroom for the Amolatar school. We had started sponsoring a scholar in January, and had been very impressed with the enthusiasm and effort of Jimmy and Calvin, and others, and also how friendly and caring the community was that supported the schools.
I was overwhelmed by the support I got from friends and family, and managed to raise enough to build ‘the skys the limit’ classroom for the nursery children.
Although we are far away in England I loved all the photos that showed the progress of the building, and finally, all the children sitting at their desks in the completed room.
I am sure that it will be very well used, and I feel very blessed that we have been involved.
Okullo Calvin was born on 28th November,1999. Calvin is currently perusing a bachelors degree civil engineering. it is through his development plans that he was introduced to the Board of SORD.
Calvin is a young passionate gentleman with a high creativity skill. His lot of love for young children always aiming to see all children having education and living a good life.
His motivation to represent SORD Uganda with its numerous works came when his late brother MOSES OMARA passed on and he was predetermined to carry on the works of SORD UGANDA started sponsoring a child at SORD Uganda.
One of the best things ever done. Honestly life changing.
You get the rare opportunity to welcome the children, staff of Uganda into your home and heart. You feel part of the whole SORD family in a direct and personal way through conversations, pics and videos. See immediate & transparent answers to questions, needs met and prayers or hopes answered miraculously.
SORD are doing amazing work, helping children from all backgrounds to get an education that will improve their life chances. I have been particularly impressed by the financial stewardship of the charity's funds, so sponsors and donors can be confident that their contributions will go to improve the learning experience for all the children at the two schools.
